Overview

Ella Eting Native Chicken and Seafoods Grill is a local gem nestled in Acacia Street, Juna Subdivision, New Sir Matina, Davao City. This humble chicken restaurant offers a genuine taste of Davao’s rich culinary tradition, specializing in native chicken dishes that stand out for their authentic flavors and texture. The native chicken BBQ and lechon manok showcase meat that is notably leaner and more flavorful than typical commercial chicken, appealing to diners seeking an honest and hearty meal.

Beyond the signature chicken, the menu features an enticing variety of local seafood and side dishes that highlight the coastal bounty of the region. The imbao clam soup, lato seaweed salad, and kinilaw— a vinegared raw fish dish akin to ceviche— add bright, fresh notes that complement the grilled items beautifully. This balance of land and sea makes dining here a true local experience, crafted for guests who appreciate straightforward yet well-executed Filipino flavors.

The atmosphere at Ella Eting is casual and open-air, perfect for those aiming to avoid the midday heat by visiting in the cooler evenings. Though there is no air conditioning or indoor dining, the spacious parking and clean facilities, including restrooms and handwashing stations, provide convenience that adds to the overall dining comfort. This space reflects the restaurant’s community-oriented nature, drawing both families and groups of friends who want to savor traditional dishes in a relaxed setting.

Customer experiences emphasize the memorable taste of the native chicken, often described as "finger-licking good," and praise the generous portions that satisfy without overwhelming. While service can occasionally be inattentive, the genuine and unpretentious approach to food draws frequent visitors who come back for the consistent quality and authenticity.

Ella Eting’s appeal lies in its dedication to local ingredients and simple, honest cooking. It's a spot ideal for those who want to engage deeply with Davao’s culinary heritage through native chicken and fresh seafood. Whether you’re a local or a curious traveler, this place invites you to enjoy a meal that captures the essence of southern Philippine flavors in a welcoming, unpretentious environment.

Those looking for a simple but delicious local Davao meal won't be disappointed here. We ordered the inihaw na paa (grilled roasted native chicken leg), lato (seaweed salad), kinilaw (vinegared fish similar to ceviche) and imbao (clam soup) and rice. We were not disappointed, the chicken was finger licking good to the bone, and on a next visit I wouldn't mind actually finishing 1 whole chicken. The native chicken is much tastier than your usual chicken. The imbao was light with some ginger, onions, and chives to flavor it well. Would definitely come back for a repeat visit.

They had a spacious parking place. During lunch and dinner time, this place is always crowded. They provide CR and hand washing spots. I like how they cook native chicken, and catfish taste great. I tried Tuna also, and I can't finish it. I think eating here is an average price. And the portion is enough for two people.

This restaurant's main dish is their native chicken barbecue. Native chicken barbecue usually has leaner meat compared to broilers or those raised for commercial purposes. They also have other local dishes from Davao such as seaweed, raw tuna in vinegar, chicken heart, liver, gizzard and more. They do not have an air conditioned and indoor dining area so suggest going there at night to evade the day heat. They have english in their menu but they only accept cash as a mode of payment.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great food at a great price! We recently visited this restaurant and had a really enjoyable experience. The food was delicious, portions were generous, and the prices were very affordable. There’s also parking available, which is a big plus! If you’re looking for a place to eat that offers great food without breaking the bank, this is definitely one I recommend.
